trauma therapy & art

Art is never used as a substitute for the feeling process but rather it is used in conjunction with the feeling work.

Sometimes people want to draw images that came up during their feeling sessions. Other times people want to draw because their creativity is no longer locked away inside their pain.

Sometimes people need to draw and paint what they just felt in a session, so they know they are not making it up.

Often people draw things and have no idea what the drawing is about. Then a few sessions later they have a feeling that explains to them exactly what the drawing means.
Not everyone draws or wants to draw as a result of therapy and that is just fine…
